# Emma: AI-Powered Patient Engagement for Healthcare

> Emma connects to your EMR, CRM, scheduling, and payment systems to run AI-powered patient workflows and return outcomes automatically.

Emma is an AI-powered patient engagement layer that sits on top of your existing healthcare systems and automates patient interactions via voice and SMS. It doesn't replace your systems of record — it augments them by consuming context, running intelligent workflows, and writing structured outcomes back where they belong. The result is faster, more consistent patient engagement without rebuilding your clinical or operational stack.

## How Emma works

<Steps>
  <Step title="A system event occurs">
    Your connected system — EMR, forms platform, payment processor, or another operational platform — fires an event or calls Emma directly with the relevant patient and workflow context.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Emma starts the workflow">
    Emma picks up the configured workflow for that event type, loading the appropriate logic, communication templates, and permitted system actions.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Emma engages the patient">
    Emma contacts the patient by voice or SMS, answers questions, collects information, and performs approved system actions mid-call — such as booking an appointment or recovering a payment.
  </Step>

  <Step title="The outcome goes back">
    Emma posts the structured outcome — status, disposition, booked appointment, recovery result, or escalation flag — to the designated system of record automatically.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Emma augments your existing technology stack. Your EMR, CRM, and operational platforms remain the source of truth.
